More than half a year has passed, and so much has happened in terms of cyber threats. In the realm of cyberattacks,  this is a trend that hasn't changed much in the last couple of years already - And this may cause a problem of perception in Companies: it’s not more of the same. It’s the same getting worse!

Major Threats and Trends in Email Security for 2019

From what we've seen so far, 2019 has proven to be another year with large numbers of email attacks. More than 3 billion fake emails are sent daily according to the latest statistics.

According to Security Boulevard, businesses constitute a significant target with 90% of organizations stating that they have been hit with a targeted email attack. Not all attacks are successful, but those that are usually end up costing an organization around $1.6 million. Email is the main culprit here, with 96% of all successful breaches commencing with a simple email.

Furthermore, the big problem is that half of all attacks target small businesses. Even though that’s the case, small businesses invest the least in cyber and email security

Forbes tells us that phishing attacks are the main threat to email security in 2019. 29% of all attacks use phishing methods. This has been true for a while, and that trend is likely to continue in the future. The worst thing here is that these attacks usually target your SaaS credentials. If not that, then they focus on any of your online accounts, generally using the advanced method called business email compromise.
